Backcountry camping passes for Grand Teton National Park and John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway are now available for summer 2023.

The National Park Service anticipates that reservations will fill quickly and recommends that campers reserve their spots soon.

Campers can purchase passes at recreation.gov or at any backcountry office in the respective parks. The summer season spans from May 1 to Oct. 31.

Backcountry passes are required to camp anywhere that is not accessible by vehicle.

Frontcountry camping areas are also available for booking at recreation.gov. This includes areas that are accessible by vehicle and have amenities, such as potable water and restrooms. National parks prohibit sleeping in vehicles outside of designated campsites.

The National Park Service offers a backcountry camping brochure with information on trip planning, fees, regulations, safety recommendations, trail maps and more.

For more information on backcountry camping, see the National Park Service website.
