RootsTech 2023 will take place this weekend March 2-4 virtually and in person in Salt Lake City, offering hundreds of classes on genealogy to participants worldwide.

RootsTech is the world’s largest family history and technology conference and is held annually by FamilySearch. This year will be the first time the three-day event has been held in person since 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event consists of a series of different classes given by experts in the genealogy and family history field to help participants learn about the importance of family history and use tools to build their family trees.

RootsTech is free for virtual participants and $98 for the in-person event being held at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, both of which allow access to over 200 classes and sessions. The in-person pass allows entrance to exclusive classes, access to the Family Search library and face-to-face connections with experts in the field. Virtual participants will also have the ability to connect with experts and friends via digital chat on the website.

RootsTech 2023 will feature various keynote speakers from all over the world. The in-person keynotes will be Sean Astin, Jordin Sparks, Me Ra Koh, Kirby Heyborne and Steve Rockwood. The virtual keynotes will be His Highness Sheikh Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al-Qasimi, Tuti Furlan and Mona Magno-Veluz. Read more about the schedule of speakers and their topics on the RootsTech calendar.

Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Sister Susan Gong, will also be featured at the conference as keynote speakers on Family Discovery Day — the last day of the conference focused on making connections and celebrating family heritage. Their address will be delivered at 1:30 p.m. MST.

The first session will begin at 8 a.m. MST this Thursday. Visit the RootsTech website to register for the event or learn more.
