On Jan. 10 The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints updated the name of the Family History Library on Temple Square to the FamilySearch Library. This change also affected the Church’s Family History centers, over 5,700 Family History centers will be known as FamilySearch centers.

According to the Church news release, “These subtle changes are a reminder of the many important — and free — genealogical resources available in each of these buildings.”

Rexburg has its own FamilySearch center located at 29 W First N. The building provides many tools and resources that can aid in family history preservation.

The Rexburg FamilySearch center website contains a calendar that lists the different classes and workshops offered, as well as a record of the center’s resources and video resources that can aid in genealogy work.

The facility invites the community to tour the facility and use the resources during its open hours which can be viewed on its website.

Kathy Niederer, a volunteer at the FamilySearch center in Rexburg, said that the change will require them to adjust a few things, but, overall, the center will continue as usual.

FamilySearch is a free resource available to anyone who would like to record and connect their family history.
