The English Academic Society invited all students and faculty to attend and participate in Last Poet Standing, which took place on May 11 in the Gordon B. Hinckley Building gymnasium.

“It is an opportunity for poets across campus to come and share their poetry in a contest form,” said John Poole, an organizer of the event.

The event will take place two more times this semester: on May 18 and June 1. Each day, poets will present their work and will be eliminated by judges or will be allowed to move on to the next stage of the competition.

The three winners of each event will receive Barnes & Noble gift cards. First place will receive $30, second place $20 and third place $15.

Students are allowed to come and support and vote for their friends. Refreshments will also be offered. For more information on the event see the details on I-Belong.
