Saturday, April 22, all national parks in the U.S. will waive entrance fees, meaning that everyone will be allowed to enter for free.
The decision is part of National Park Week, which runs from April 22 to April 30. The parks and their respective partners will host a number of events throughout the week to celebrate. All events are posted on the parks’ social media accounts.
According to the National Park Service’s website, the goal of National Park Week is to “encourage everyone to enjoy their national parks in person.”
According to Google Maps, Yellowstone National Park is 82 miles from Rexburg and takes about an hour an a half to drive. Grand Teton National Park is 84 miles away. That trip takes about two hours to drive.
At 2.2 millions acres, Yellowstone is the third-biggest national park in the U.S., according to NationalParks.org. It offers activities such as hiking, fishing, camping and sightseeing. One of its main attractions is the Old Faithful geyser.
Grand Teton occupies 310,000 acres of land and also offers hiking, fishing, camping, sightseeing and more.
Entrance to either park typically costs $35 per vehicle. Each pass lasts seven days.
