On the evening of Saturday, May 13, Yellowstone National Park rangers responded to a call about an incident near Craig Pass.
Upon arriving, rangers noticed a vehicle that had crashed into a snowbank and that an adult male was standing outside the vehicle.
The man was detained and has since been arrested for traffic-related charges as well as drug possession.
Rangers also came across a deceased female inside the vehicle. Her cause of death is currently being investigated and investigators are working on notifying her close friends and family.
The Investigative Services Branch of the National Park Service and the Yellowstone Law Enforcement Division are conducting the investigation with assistance from the FBI, Teton County Coroner’s Office and the United States Attorney’s Office.
Craig Pass is located about three miles south of Old Faithful geyser. The road between Old Faithful and West Thumb was closed on Sunday but is now open to the public.
