Bryan Kohberger, a suspect in the murder of four University of Idaho students waived his right to a speedy preliminary hearing and is scheduled for the hearing in June, according to court documents filed last Friday.
Kohberger will appear before second District Judge Megan Marshall from June 26 to June 30 — during which prosecutors will argue whether there is probable cause to believe the defendant committed the crimes he is charged with.
A Washington State University graduate student in nearby Pullman, Kohberger is charged with burglary and four counts of first-degree murder related to the deaths of UI students Madison Mogen, Ethan Chapin, Kaylee Goncalves and Xana Kernodle.
Police found the students dead in a Moscow, Idaho house on Nov. 13. It was later determined they were each stabbed to death.
Kohberger was arrested in Pennsylvania on Dec. 30.
Early in the investigation, after reviewing video footage from the area, police reported that a white Hyundai Elantra passed by the victims’ residence four times on the morning it’s suspected the alleged murders took place. The car was later linked to Kohberger.
DNA recovered from trash in his parents’ Pennsylvania home provided a paternal match to DNA extracted from a sheath found at the crime scene.
